The Albemarle Mental Health Center is a local community health center in northeastern North Carolina serving six counties. The Center provides comprehensive developmental disabilities, and substance abuse services and mental health services through contract providers.
Services for all categories include:


  • Information, Screening & Referral Services are available to patients and public agencies for evaluating mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance abuse problems, planning for appropriate treatment, and linking patients with proper services

  • Outpatient Services include group and family counseling, vocational counseling, and psychotherapy

  • Inpatient Services are designed to provide intensive treatment, supportive care, and close supervision in a controlled environment. The services are available by referral to the appropriate treatment center

  • Emergency Walk-in Services are available at all locations for individuals experiencing acute emotional or behavioral problems resulting from abuse of alcohol or other drugs

  • Community Support or enhanced benefit services for mental health and/or substance abuse adults and children

Eligibility: Serves all citizens regardless of age, ethnicity, religion, national origin, social status, economic status and/or physical/mental disability.

Fees: A sliding fee scale charge for outpatient services ranges from no fee to the maximum of $150.00 per hour. Insurance, medicaid and medicare are also accepted.
