Boy Scouts offers programs for all age groups.
- Tiger Cubs is a school-year program for boys in who are in first grade (or boys in Kindergarten starting in March of each year) and their adult partners. The program stresses simplicity, shared leadership, learning about the community and family understanding. Each boy-adult team meets for family activities, and twice a month all the teams meet for Tiger Cub den activities.
- Cub Scouting is a family- and home-centered program for boys in the second through fifth grades (8, 9 and 10 years old). Fourth- and fifth-grade (10-year-old) boys are called Webelos Scouts and participate in more advanced activities that begin to prepare them to become Boy Scouts.
- Boy Scouting is a program for boys 11 through 17, and is designed to achieve the aims of Scouting through a vigorous outdoor program and peer group leadership with the counsel of an adult Scoutmaster.
- Varsity Scouting is an active program for young men 14 through 17. It is built around five program fields of emphasis: advancement, high adventure, personal development, service and special programs and events.
- Exploring is the young-adult program of the Boy Scouts of America for men and women ages 14 through 20. The program is developed by local community organizations such as businesses, industries, professions, churches and civic groups to match the interests of young adults with the program resources of the organization.
- Venturing is a program for young men and women who are 14 through 20 years of age. Venturing provides positive experiences through exciting and meaningful activities that help youth pursue their special interests to grow, to develop leadership skills and to become good citizens.
- Sea Scouts is a program for young men and women who are 14 through 20 years of age. Sea Scouts is a program combining the tradition of the past with the technology of the future. Whether you look to the future to the sea for a career or lifelong hobby. Youth will have the opportunity for fun on the water, cruising, fellowship, leadership, service and advancement.
Eligibility: Boy Scouts is for boys ages 11 through 17. Venturing and Sea Scouts is coed ages 14 through 20.

The Dare County Youth Council is a community-based youth volunteer organization comprised of middle and high school-aged students. The mission of the Dare County Youth Council is to provide programs/activities, civic projects, and special events for fellow middle and high school aged youth throughout Dare County, and to serve as the "voice" of youth by acting in an advocacy/advisory role to local governments on issues of interest to Dare County youth.
Eligibility: Open to all county middle and high school youth.

As Girl Scouts, girls are challenged and encouraged to reach for and achieve their best. Girls work in partnership with adult leaders and volunteers from the community who become positive role models and mentors. Using the democratic process, girls plan and carry out their own activities. Girl Scouting provides opportunities for girls to build confidence and leadership skills through programs that address real-life issues facing girls today. Many programs include community service, environmental stewardship, healthy living, dealing with bullies, and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math).
Eligibility: Serves girls in grades K through 12.

Hands on educational youth program focused on life skills development. Leadership includes volunteer support of community and project clubs, special interest activities, trips and conferences, and school enrichment programs. Volunteer club leaders and youth officers, are screened and trained by 4-H staff. 4-H offers youth the opportunity to select project areas for advanced study. Opportunities for involvement at the local, state, national, and even international levels are offered through a variety of project areas. Members receive quarterly newsletters through the mail.
Eligibility: Serves school aged youth and young adults
Fees: Membership is free. There may be some nominal fees associated with workshops, programs, events & activities
Junior Sailing Program North Carolina Maritime Museum on Roanoke

The NC Maritime Museum on Roanoke Island offers a variety of activities including it's junior sailing program. The program is open to youth ages 8 through 16. The program offers beginner to intermidiate sailing lessons and runs during the summer months. Family participation is encouraged!

OBX Storm Soccer Club

The OBX Storm consists of Recreation level and Challenge level soccer for girls and boys ranging in age from U-10 to U-18.
Eligibility: The OBX Storm has an annual registration in July and holds try-outs for the Challenge level teams shortly there after. The recreation teams are compiled on a first come first served basis.

The OBX Swim Club offers year-round competitive swim team with instruction, training and competition to swimmers ages 5-18. We participate in USA Swimming in the Virginia LSC. Swimming is a marvelous physical activity for everyone and can be a lifetime sport. One does not have to be a "natural" to become a good competitive swimmer, since coordination and technique can be developed over the years. It should be understood that not every swimmer becomes a champion; however, every participant can develop proficiency in the water and can gain from the experience.
Eligibility: Serves children ages 5-18

Outer Banks Youth Ministry Network

The Outer Banks Youth Ministry Network coordinates local events for youth and their parents. The Network has representatives from multi denomiations and is a group of youth ministries that work with middle and high school students in the local churches.
