Lions Club helps families in need of support to attain vision and hearing aides and other services. Services include:


  • Pay for eye exams and glasses for students on recommendation of teachers or school nurses

  • Replace lost or broken eye glasses for all ages

  • Assist in procuring hearing aids

  • Assist in the purchase of prescription for eye medication, when all other means have failed

  • Crutches, walkers, wheel chairs etc. for loan (First Flight Lions Club)

  • Operates Camp Dogwood, which provides summer experiences for blind and visually impaired

  • Assist in producing the VIP Fishing Tournament for 550 visually impaired persons each October

Dare County Shrine Club

The Dare County Shrine Club helps arrange and pay for transportation for children, and at least one parent or guardian, to a Shriner's Hospital. Shriner's Hospitals for Children is a network of 24 orthopedic hospitals, three burn hospitals, and one hospital that provides orthopedic, burn and spinal cord injury care, where children up to their 18th birthday receive excellent medical care absolutely free of charge.

Eligibility: Children in need up until their eighteenth birthday

Fees: Services are free of charge and not dependent on income.
